Interring Ashes In A Cemetery

Nearly all cemeteries offer options to inter ashes. You may decide interring the ashes is right for you.

 

Cemeteries have increasingly recognized society's shift away from burials and toward cremation. They now offer numerous options for cremains. These include burying the ashes, either in a traditional grave or perhaps in an urn or cremains garden.

Cemeteries also offer Columbarium Niches which are an above-ground burial option. An urn containing the ashes is placed into a niche, generally with an identifying marker placed on the outside. Contact your local cemetery for local options.

An added benefit of interring ashes is it provides a permanent place to remember. That sense of permanency is important for many. It can be achieved in different ways, including by placing ashes into a niche, scattering them in a cremains garden, or having your loved one's name and information inscribed into a permanent memorial wall.
